Scholarship

"Intellectual development is one of the four aims of Alpha Sigma Alpha.  Our members are challenged to strive for their best intellectual development by setting high academic goals, regular classroom attendance, and class participation.  Our chapter focuses on academic achievement through incentive programs, studdy buddies, recognition, tutoring, and study skills education."

Kathy Callahan Love for a Lifetime Scholarship

kathy.jpg

This scholarship was established in 1994 in memory of a wonderful and giving Alpha Sigma Alpha, Kathy Marie Callahan.  This scholarship is awarded each year to a member of ASA who possesses selfless and outstanding characteristics similar to those of Kathy.

Kathy was a supportive, unselfish, and outgoing individual.  She was always willing to give her advice, friendship, and time whenever and whatever the situation.  She was kind and considerate to everyone, not only to her ASA sisters.  Kathy touched so many lives with her charming personality and smiling face.  She gave of herself in all aspects.  She was on her way to completing a degree in special education at Northern Illinois University.  She had both the patience and the heart for such a career.

Kathy was the kind of girl you never forget, so with this scholarship her memory will live on and she will continue to touch the lives of ASA's through the years.  This scholarship is devoted to Kathy and her ability to "love life and joyously live each day to its ultimate good."

Congratulations to Katelyn Webb, Our 2007 Recipient for the "Kathy Callahan Love for a Lifetime" Scholarship!
